This "Authority Hacking" advertorial stole traffic for 5+ years...
Is this the fastest way to launch a new offer in a crowded market? (Tactical + Psychology breakdown inside)
Want to see an advertorial format that has been “stealing” traffic for 5+ years (and counting)?
Taner Tozan shared it on our latest Funnel of the Week breakdown:
This competitor advertorial was a thorn in Taner’s side while leading growth at one 9 figure health brand…
(Taner is a DTC growth expert who has helped brands like Organifi, Golden Hippo, Grant Cardone & many more. Go here to get in touch with him.)

But here's the thing:
This approach might actually be the most dependable method for launching a new brand in a crowded market.
Yes - this method is inherently capped in terms of scale…
And yes - you should 100% be trying to crack the code on a monster VSL or short form video to PDP cold traffic funnel…
…But this approach can buy you some time & revenue while helping you build momentum out of the gate.
(And a lot of bigger brands we’ve been behind the scenes with have used this to launch new offers in new categories before investing in more scale-friendly creative)
Here's the approach in a nutshell, using examples from Colostrom brands attempting to launch against established $100M/yr brands like Armra:
STEP 1: Launch a non-branded review topic Facebook page. Here’s one competing against Armra:
STEP 2: Now for the lander. Create a comparison listicle that lists your unknown brand alongside established market leaders
See the full page inside Funnel of the Week Members Area as part of the Armra Colostrum funnel breakdown
Here's why this works so well:
Psychological Elements at Play |
---|
Authority Borrowing: Your unknown brand gains instant credibility by being listed with trusted names |
Social Proof by Association: Consumers assume if you're in the comparison, you must belong there |
Halo Effect: Positive impressions from established brands extend to your product through proximity |
Categorical Thinking: Being grouped in "top brands" automatically assigns your product those qualities |
The beauty of this approach?
You're not trying to convince someone your brand is amazing from scratch.
You're simply positioning yourself as a legitimate player worth considering alongside the big names.
This week on Funnel of the Week, we broke down exactly this strategy in action:
Taner analyzed the Armra colostrum funnel (the brand that's been crushing it with hair/skin/nails positioning)...
Plus we found the exact advertorial page that's been running for 5+ years - complete with hand-written scorecards, family photos, and product testing that looks like it was shot with a 2019 digital camera.
And it's still working.
(there’s no reason why you can’t model this approach and add it to your mix in 2025…)
Want to see the full breakdown?
We dive deep into:
The exact psychological triggers this page uses
Why "low-fi" beats "high-production" for credibility
How to ethically "borrow" authority from established brands
The listicle format that converts cold traffic
Plus Taner shares his "fake page" strategy that cuts influencer costs by 75% (yes, it's completely white-hat).
